How Podcast Guesting Enhances Your Brand and Speaking Skills with Jason Cercone.
You’ll discover how podcast guesting can build your brand, expand your audience, and sharpen your public speaking skills — all at once. Personal brand architect Jason Cercone explains why guesting on established podcasts is the smartest first move for anyone looking to grow their authority, how to identify shows that will actually deliver results, and exactly what to say in your outreach so podcasters say yes instead of ignoring you.
You’ll also learn how to treat podcast guesting as a strategic campaign rather than a one-off appearance, how to leverage every booking into a networking opportunity that extends well beyond the episode itself, and why the skills you build at the microphone will make you more confident and compelling in every public speaking situation you face.
Welcome to Public Speaking with Peter George. Do you want to be calm, confident, and credible every time you speak in public? Then stay tuned as we discuss public speaking tips, techniques, and tactics that help you increase your impact, influence, and income.

Here’s my conversation with Jason Cercone.
Why Podcasts Are the Ultimate Storytelling Stage
Jason: The brands positioning themselves well in the market today are captivating, compelling, and confident — and their content is released with conviction. On no better stage in the world is there a better place to tell those stories than podcasts. At the core of every podcast, regardless of genre, is storytelling. And beyond the story itself, you have someone’s attention for 30, 40, sometimes 60 minutes or more. In a world of three-second Instagram reels and TikTok videos, that’s extraordinary.
Start as a Guest, Not a Host
Jason: I typically try to talk people out of starting their own podcast, especially at the beginning. Podcast guesting is the better first move. You don’t worry about production. You find your voice. You get comfortable on the microphone and confident in telling your story. And all of those skills — owning your voice, speaking with power, finding your rhythm — translate directly to any public speaking context: a trade group, a team meeting, a keynote stage.
Podcast guesting isn’t just about exposure. It’s a training ground for becoming a more confident, compelling speaker in every setting.
Make It a Campaign, Not a One-Off
Jason: If you’re doing it sporadically, it’s not going to lead to results. Build a campaign. Find a series of podcasts, set up appointments, and commit to at least one per week to start. Quality over quantity — but also work the numbers. Not every show will respond. The law of averages is on your side when you’re consistently pursuing aligned shows.
Finding the Right Podcasts
Jason: Don’t spray and pray. Don’t fire off hundreds of emails to hundreds of shows hoping for a response — podcasters discard those requests immediately. Instead, think like your customer: what are they listening to? Find shows that align with your mission, your message, and your brand objectives. Services like Podmatch are a great starting point. And when you reach out, lead with value — not a list of accolades. Tell the podcaster what their audience will gain from the conversation.
The Built-In Networking Advantage
Jason: One of the most underrated elements of podcast guesting is the networking. You’re connecting with like-minded people who may need exactly what you offer. When you show up with great content and genuine value, that podcaster may refer you, promote you, or open doors you didn’t even know existed — before the episode ever goes live. The relationship you build matters as much as the episode itself.
Podcast Guesting as Brand Building
Jason: Podcasts are global. The show you appear on today could reach a listener in New Zealand tomorrow. When people hear your voice, your story, your confidence — and it resonates — their instinct is to find out more. They check your website. They follow your work. They become brand advocates. That’s the long game. And it starts with showing up as a value-driven guest rather than someone there to sell.
Peter: Jason, where can listeners reach you?
Jason: Come find me at jasoncercone.com and jasoncercone.com/podcastlove, where you can pick up a free guide on building your personal brand through podcasting. I also have a guesting masterclass and a podcast guesting strategy guide available there. If you want to dive deeper into how this strategy can help build your brand, I’d love to have that conversation.
